| Britney Fan Video Contest with MTV (4)30 / 11 / 2007 |
Britney Spears may have shot a video herself earlier this week, but now it’s your turn. For her next Blackout single, “Piece of Me,” the singer wants fans to give her a piece of them right back — by directing a separate video for her, with the winning clip to be played on “TRL.” The “Britney Spears Wants a Piece of You” contest launches on Monday, at which point MTV will open its vaults of the footage shot of the pop singer over the years, including interviews, red-carpet appearances and performances. Fans who want to get their Spielberg on can access the goods via the MTV Video Remixer. Pick the shots you like, mash them up and hit “send” — clips can be up to 3:34 in length or shorter. Looking for inspiration or guidance to see how video mashes like these have been done in the past? Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, Common and Paramore have all given their fans chances to do Web-based video remixes on the site using Adobe Premiere Express, so watch their remixes first if you want to learn the technique, and then give Britney your best shot. Submissions are due by December 14. MTV, Jive Records and Britney herself will decide the winner, whose video will be premiered exclusively on “TRL” on December 20. That’s well before the airing of the video Spears shot this week — that won’t surface until January at earliest. The winning “Piece of Me” video will also get an all-day premiere on MTV Hits and an online premiere on MTV.com.

| Louis Vitton Wins Lawsuit (3)21 / 11 / 2007 |
French luxury goods company Louis Vuitton has won a lawsuit against Britney Spears. Vuitton filed suit against the pop star for showing a pink Vuitton-upholstered dashboard in her music video for ‘Do Something’. The video shows Spears driving in a pink Hummer and tapping her fingers on a dashboard that resembles Vuitton’s ‘Cherry Blossoms’ design. A Paris civil court ordered Sony BMG and MTV Online to stop broadcasting or marketing the video and fined them 80,000 euros apiece, reports the Associated Press. They were also found guilty of violating counterfeiting laws. Spears herself was not fined or found guilty.

| Britney planning to have cosmetic surgery? (11)15 / 11 / 2007 |
Britney Spears is planning to spend £80,000 on cosmetic surgery. The ‘Gimme More’ singer believes having a tummy tuck, nose job, chemical peel and boob job will help boost her career. A source said: “Britney rips pages out of magazines with pictures of the perfect body parts she wants. When she sees so many pictures of her in magazines it is impossible for her not to scrutinise every detail of her body. “She is so insecure over how much her body has changed since becoming a mother. She has said she will do whatever it takes to get back to her best even if that means getting a helping hand through surgery.” Britney’s top-to-toe makeover is said to include £8,000 on liposuction for her thighs and chin, £12,000 on breast enhancement, £8,000 on a nose job, a £15,000 tummy tuck and £5,000 on chemical peels. Consultations with surgeons, dieticians and fitness trainers are expected to top up the total bill to over £80,000. The star’s friends are concerned with Britney’s growing obsession over her appearance and medical experts have warned cosmetic surgery doesn’t always improve self-confidence.
| Britney Preparing For “Piece Of Me” Video (31)15 / 11 / 2007 |
Britney Spears and her team of choreographers are in the final stages of preparation to shoot the video for her single “Piece of Me.” “She’s picked the dancers, who are meeting with the choreographers Wednesday night to rehearse,” a source close to the shoot reveals!. And part of getting everything ready for Friday’s shoot at an as-yet-undisclosed location is preparing for the worst-case scenario. “Choreographers are busy finding a body double to dance Britney’s part for rehearsal,” says the source. “And the body double may very well also be the stand-in on the shoot itself if Brit doesn’t show on Friday!” Friday is also a big day for Britney on the custody front, as lawyers for the singer and her ex-hubby are due back in court for another round of legal wrangling in the ongoing custody war over sons Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James.
| Paparazzi photographer injured chasing Britney (3)13 / 11 / 2007 |
A paparazzi chasing troubled pop star Britney Spears was injured when his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by another photographer, police said Tuesday. The accident occurred on Monday in Beverly Hills when a photographer driving a Range Rover made an illegal right turn hitting the motorbike and its rider, police sergeant Jay Kim said. The injured photographer was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with cuts to his legs and arms although the extent of his injuries was not immediately known. Spears was not injured and had “no direct involvement” in the collision, police said. The incident is the latest traffic scrape linked to Spears, whose daily movements around Los Angeles are routinely tracked by a pack of paparazzi. Last month Spears accidentally ran over the foot of a photographer who had crowded her Mercedes as it exited a car-park.

| Judge Rules no Change in Custody (3)09 / 11 / 2007 |
Despite calls for changes in the existing custody agreement between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, the judge in the case ruled today that things are (basically) to stay the same. Today’s emergency hearing dealt primarily with the pop star’s apparent inability to respond in a timely fashion to calls from the testing facility for her court-ordered random drug tests. According to K-Fed’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, who told the judge that the singer exists in a “parallel universe,” Brit has not responded properly to 8 out of 14 attempts (each “failed” attempt consists of three phone calls from the facility within a one hour period). Britney’s excuse? Aside from her lawyer Anne Kiley calling the testing facility “corrupt” and the facility’s head a “liar,” it appears that Britney’s biggest problem is the time at which the facility calls. “She’s a pop star and you can’t expect her to be awake at 7 or 8 in the morning,” Kiley told the court. When the judge pointed out that he had “no doubt” that Ms. Kiley would respond in a timely manner at that hour, she retorted, “But you’re not a pop star with a number one album!” Rather than point out that Britney’s album was actually a distant number two on this week’s Billboard list, the judge said “This isn’t about who’s a rock star… We’re all bending over backwards to get her to behave like ordinary people.” Also at issue is Britney’s apparent cell phone issues. Both Kaplan and the judge mentioned problems of changed phone numbers, lost phones, assistants answering and then hanging up, calls being forwarded to random numbers and so on. “Is there a special section in the family code dedicated to Ms Spears,” Asked Kaplan. “Should the lab be on standby for when she calls and says ‘I’m up now, I’m ready to receive visitors?’” After a recess, during which the court was unable to secure a new testing facility, Kaplan asked that Britney no longer be allowed to drive the boys, and that if she’s in the car with them, another person must drive. The judge shot this idea down, stating that it would in effect be a change to the custody ruling, but not without a bit of scolding for the beleaguered songstress. “She’s a mom. She needs to take responsibility,” explained the judge. “It’s not about Britney Spears getting up at 8:30am. It’s about a court order… Do you want a tech standing by for her? Like a fireman ready to go when she’s ready?” In closing, the judge stressed the need for Britney and her attorney to come up with a dedicated number on which the singer could be reached at all times. “You can change the number every day,” explained the judge, saying that she must let Kaplan and the testing facility know of the change. Explained the judge: “It comes down to: You get the call, you respond to the call, you get tested.”
| Britney Runs Red Light (1)09 / 11 / 2007 |
Britney Spears blew a red light at a notoriously dangerous intersection last night, with her kids in the back and a court-appointed monitor crouched down in the front. Paging K-Fed’s attorney! The Popwreck approached the light slowly on Coldwater Canyon in Los Angeles. You then see Britney raise her cellphone to her face. It is unclear if she’s texting or making a call. She then drives into the intersection as someone outside the car screams, “Red light, red light!” Britney then turns left onto Mulholland Drive, managing to miss oncoming traffic. The judge has made it clear that he has issues with Britney’s driving. L.A. County Commish Scott Gordon temporarily revoked her visitation rights because she was driving without a valid California license. Yesterday, Kaplan asked the Commish to forbid Brit from driving when the kids are in the car. The judge said he’d ponder that and rule on November 26. The bets are on — Mark Vincent Kaplan, K-Fed’s lawyer, will be back in court long before the 26th after eying the new video.
